In a vibrant celebration of creativity and public engagement, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has unveiled a stunning new cultural landmark — the revamped Srijan Open-Air Art Gallery at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri. Inaugurated on July 11, 2025, this initiative is designed to spotlight emerging and young artists, while making art more accessible to the public.
What began in 1999 as a modest artists’ corner has now been transformed into a state-of-the-art open-air gallery spread across 15,225 square meters. With enhanced landscaping, curated display areas, and improved infrastructure like Gwalior stone flooring, stainless-steel railings, and weather-resistant installations, the Srijan gallery is now equipped to host art exhibitions, live demos, and community-focused events in an immersive, natural setting.
At the heart of Srijan is a mission to empower emerging and student artists. The NDMC has ensured that participation is accessible and affordable — artists can book display slots for 5–7 days through a simple application process reviewed by a committee. From traditional painting and sculpture to digital and mixed media, the platform welcomes all formats, with plans to host regular workshops, cartooning sessions, photography walks, and Sunday art corners for children and amateurs.
Unlike conventional galleries confined to buildings, Srijan invites everyone — morning walkers, joggers, families, tourists — to casually engage with art during their everyday routines.
Whether you're an aspiring artist or a casual parkgoer, Nehru Park’s latest addition offers a unique chance to explore, reflect, and be inspired.
