Delhi is all set to make history as India prepares to open a world-class ice skating centre at the Dwarka Sports Complex by August 2026. The upcoming facility marks a major leap for winter sports infrastructure in the country and is expected to transform Delhi into a new destination for ice-based sporting experiences.

Spread across nearly 4,200 square metres, the state-of-the-art centre will feature an Olympic-standard ice rink measuring 60m × 30m, built according to international specifications. The venue is being designed to host a range of winter sports including ice hockey, figure skating, and curling, along with national and international-level tournaments.

The facility will function as a year-round training hub equipped with advanced refrigeration and climate-control systems, allowing the rink to operate even during Delhi’s intense summer heat. This means professional athletes and beginners alike will have access to consistent training and recreational skating experiences throughout the year.

Olympic-Standard Ice Rink In The Heart Of Delhi:

One of the biggest highlights of the project is its Olympic-standard design, making it suitable for hosting competitive sporting events and international championships. The rink will meet global specifications required for winter sports events, helping India strengthen its presence in disciplines traditionally dominated by colder nations.

Apart from professional training and tournaments, the ice skating centre will also be open to the general public. Visitors will be able to enjoy recreational skating sessions, making it one of Delhi’s most unique upcoming sports and entertainment attractions.

The project is likely to boost sports tourism, create new recreational opportunities, and introduce a fresh urban leisure experience for residents and tourists alike.

With construction progressing steadily, the capital may soon offer an experience usually associated with countries known for snow and winter games—right in the middle of Delhi.
