In a major step towards improving urban mobility for women, Delhi Metro has introduced the ‘MyDidi’ women-only e-bike shuttle service, a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to strengthen last-mile connectivity while promoting eco-friendly transportation. The service follows a “By Women, For Women” model, offering female commuters a safer and more convenient way to travel between metro stations and their final destinations.
The MyDidi service uses electric bikes operated exclusively by women riders, ensuring a comfortable and secure commuting experience. The initiative is aimed at addressing one of the biggest challenges faced by metro users—reaching their homes, workplaces, or nearby destinations after exiting the station.
Initially, the service will operate within a 5-kilometre radius of select metro stations, allowing women passengers to access affordable transportation at a flat fare. To encourage adoption, introductory free rides have also been announced for a limited period.
Beyond improving convenience and safety, MyDidi aligns with broader sustainability goals by promoting electric mobility and reducing dependence on conventional fuel-based transport. The initiative contributes to lowering emissions while supporting cleaner and greener urban travel solutions.
As cities continue to focus on sustainable and commuter-friendly infrastructure, initiatives like MyDidi could play a significant role in transforming how women navigate urban spaces while making public transport more accessible and reliable.
