Delhi is all set to welcome a burst of colour this winter as the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) announces an ambitious plan to plant over 3 lakh tulip plants across the city, starting December 27. This floral initiative promises to transform prominent public spaces into picturesque landscapes, adding to Delhi’s charm during the peak winter season.
2.25 Lakh Tulips to Beautify Major NDMC Areas
As part of the drive, 2.25 lakh tulip bulbs will be planted across key NDMC-managed areas, including prominent roundabouts, parks, central verges, and high-footfall public zones. These vibrant tulips are expected to bloom in the coming weeks, offering residents and visitors a refreshing visual treat and perfect photo-worthy spots across the capital.
1 Lakh Tulips to Be Available for Public Purchase
In a unique move to encourage community participation, NDMC will plant around 1 lakh tulips in pots, which will be made available for public purchase. This initiative allows Delhiites to bring a piece of the city’s floral beauty home, promoting urban gardening and environmental awareness.
A Seasonal Attraction for Locals & Tourists
Tulips, known for their striking colours and elegant blooms, thrive in cooler climates, making them ideal for Delhi’s winter season. The plantation drive aligns with NDMC’s broader goal of enhancing green spaces, improving urban aesthetics, and promoting eco-friendly initiatives in the capital.
With thousands of tulips blooming simultaneously across NDMC zones, the city is expected to attract nature lovers, photographers, morning walkers, and tourists alike. The initiative adds yet another seasonal highlight to Delhi’s winter calendar, complementing existing gardens and heritage sites.
As Delhi prepares to bloom in shades of red, yellow, pink, and purple, the city’s winter mornings are set to become even more delightful.
