Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), one of the busiest airports in Asia, is gearing up for a major milestone. Its Terminal 2 (T2), which has been under renovation since April 2025, will officially reopen on October 26, 2025, coinciding with the start of the winter flight schedule. The revamp promises not just a facelift, but an enhanced passenger experience with modern technology and improved infrastructure.
T2, originally built nearly four decades ago, was designed to handle international flights before the newer Terminal 3 came into operation. Over the years, it also handled a large share of domestic flights. However, with rising passenger volumes and the growing demand for better facilities, the terminal had become outdated.
In April 2025, authorities temporarily shut it down for an extensive renovation project, allowing for safety upgrades, technological improvements, and passenger-centric redesigns.
The revamped T2 has been modernized to match the evolving needs of both airlines and passengers. Key highlights include:
- Self-Baggage Drop
- Six New Passenger Boarding Bridges
- Fresh Interiors
- Improved Signage & Information Systems
With upgraded systems, self-service technologies, and improved passenger facilities, T2 is set to redefine the travel experience for thousands of daily domestic flyers.
