Noida is all set to get a major infrastructural update in the form of a 400 meters long skywalk at the Noida sector 62/63 intersection. The estimated cost of this skywalk will be Rs. 40 crores and it is expected to benefit 50,000 pedestrians daily.

The main aim of building this skywalk is to ensure a safe walking space for pedestrians grappled with heavy traffic and to facilitate smoother vehicular movement. The circular design skywalk will have an iron roof to provide protection from rain and heat.

Additionally, escalators and lifts will be installed on both sides to make accessibility easy for everyone including people with disabilities, senior citizens, children and women.

The new skywalk will connect to the existing overbridge on the highway, allowing pedestrians from Ghaziabad to reach Noida without crossing traffic. A detailed report regarding this has been prepared with estimate cost of Rs. 40 crore. Construction will begin after the approval of design by IIT.

Additional upgrades

Not just the skywalk, authorities also plan to widen roads, construct footpaths and develop parking facilities. The three U-turns from NH-9 to Mamura Chowk which currently slow down traffic will be improved.

A new auto rickshaw stand is also to be built at the NH-9 entry point to provide relief from traffic jams.
