Delhi-NCR is all set to witness a historic religious celebration this July as the Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026 arrives with a unique first. For the first time in the capital, the divine procession of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra will be carried out on three separate grand chariots, offering devotees a rare opportunity to participate in this sacred tradition.

The Jagannath Rath Yatra in Delhi will commence from Shri Jagannath Temple, Thyagaraj Nagar, New Delhi, on 16 July 2026 at 2:00 PM, and will mark the beginning of a 12-day religious festival running until 27 July 2026.

A Historic First for Delhi-NCR:

One of the biggest highlights of this year's celebration is the introduction of three magnificent chariots, each dedicated to one of the deities:

  • Lord Jagannath

  • Lord Balabhadra

  • Goddess Subhadra

Traditionally celebrated in Puri, Odisha, the Rath Yatra is one of India's most revered festivals. This year, Delhi devotees will experience the grandeur of the festival in an unprecedented way with three separate chariots being pulled through the streets by devotees.

Participating in the Jagannath Rath Yatra is considered highly auspicious in Hindu tradition. It is believed that devotees who pull the sacred chariots or seek darshan of the deities receive divine blessings and spiritual merit.

Thousands of devotees from Delhi-NCR are expected to attend this grand event and take part in the procession.
