Discover the enchantment of internationally acclaimed sitarist, music producer, and mental health advocate Rishab Rikhiram Sharma. Rishab, who was raised in the renowned Rikhi Ram family of luthiers, started learning to play the sitar at the age of ten under his father, Sanjay Sharma, a master luthier. He became the youngest and last student of Sitar Maestro Pt. Ravi Shankar as a result of his extraordinary talent.
He has performed in front of over 60,000 people at Houston's NRG Stadium and at the White House during President Joe Biden's 2022 Diwali celebrations. Through a multi-sensory, immersive art and music performance, the 90-minute event reintroduces the sitar's sound as a transformative tool. The Khartal, Sound Bowls, Daf, deep percussion, and other instruments are used to accompany the performance.
By fusing traditional sitar with modern elements, Rishab Rikhiram Sharma creates a calming and engrossing experience that honours emotional health, mindfulness, and the therapeutic value of music. Sitar for Mental Health, presented by HSBC and proudly curated by Team Innovation Cultural, honours the significant influence that music has on mental health. Don't pass up the opportunity to see a real artist at work!
