The largest theatrical masterwork in India is once again in high demand. See the splendour in person in Delhi. The musical is a stage rendition of K. Asif's ageless 1960 classic film "Mughal-e-Azam" in Hindi with English subtitles. With more than 275 performances in eight countries (India, Canada, Malaysia, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, UAE, and USA) since its 2016 debut, the musical has thrilled audiences.
Both Kathak dance and Indian classical music, which date back more than two centuries are featured in the musical drama. Mughal-e-Azam is still the largest theatrical performance India has ever produced, in addition to being the country's first Broadway-style musical. The musical is directed by Feroz Abbas Khan and produced by Deepesh Salgia under the sponsorship of Shapoorji Pallonji & Co. Pvt. Ltd.
In 2017, this grand production with live singing and spectacular choreography won seven Broadway World India Awards, including Best Play, Best Director, Best Original Choreography, Best Original Costume Design, Best Ensemble Cast, Best Original Lighting Design, and Best Original Set Design. It features a cast and crew of more than 150 people, more than 250 lights that illuminate the stage, and 550 magnificent costumes.
