New Delhi is preparing to host one of the biggest diplomatic events of 2026 — the 4th India–Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-IV). Scheduled to take place from May 28 to May 31, 2026, the summit marks the return of the prestigious India-Africa dialogue after more than a decade, bringing together leaders, diplomats, policymakers, and business delegates from across the African continent.
The summit is expected to position India’s capital at the center of major conversations around trade, technology, sustainability, energy, healthcare, innovation, and global cooperation.
What is the India–Africa Forum Summit?
The India–Africa Forum Summit is considered the highest-level platform for engagement between India and African nations. First launched in 2008, the summit aims to deepen economic, political, and cultural ties between India and Africa. Previous editions were held in New Delhi (2008), Addis Ababa (2011), and again in New Delhi (2015).
The 2026 edition gains special significance as it revives the summit after an 11-year gap and reflects India’s growing focus on the Global South and emerging international partnerships.
The official theme of the summit is:
“IA SPIRIT: India Africa Strategic Partnership for Innovation, Resilience, and Inclusive Transformation.”
Authorities in New Delhi have already begun extensive preparations ahead of the summit. According to reports, beautification drives, infrastructure upgrades, improved civic facilities, and enhanced security arrangements are being planned across key diplomatic and administrative zones of the capital.
