In a major relief for daily commuters across New Delhi and the wider NCR region, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced the addition of 6 extra metro trains and 24 more trips starting Monday. The move comes amid growing fuel concerns and rising transportation costs, encouraging more residents to opt for public transport in the capital.

The latest expansion is aimed at easing congestion during peak office hours while improving travel convenience for lakhs of passengers who rely on the metro every day. With traffic levels increasing across Delhi NCR and fuel prices remaining a concern for many households, the Delhi Metro continues to position itself as one of the most reliable and affordable modes of urban transport.

DMRC has created a vast last-mile ecosystem spanning 160 Metro stations to guarantee end-to-end commuter convenience. Currently, the e-autos, e-rickshaws, bike taxis, cab aggregators, bicycle rentals, and smart door-to-door integrated journey planning via the DMRC Saarthi App serve about 100,000 passengers every day. These steps are intended to promote environmentally friendly mobility options while bridging the crucial gap between Metro stations and ultimate destinations.

For last-mile connection, DTC, which currently operates about 1,500 DEVi buses at 52 Metro stations, will also expand its deployment.

As Delhi NCR continues to grow rapidly, public transport upgrades like these are becoming increasingly important for sustainable urban mobility.
