This is undoubtedly one of the most serene places in all of Delhi. The Gurudwara is so stunning that you might find it unable to take your eyes off of its lovely surroundings. The gurudwara's serene ambiance, particularly around the pond, provides a lovely haven from the busy lives individuals lead every day. Here are some facts about it -
1. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was initially constructed as a little shrine in 1783 to worship Guru Har Krishan, the seventh Sikh Guru. The gurdwara is located on the spot where a minor miracle was accomplished by Guru Hari Krishan, the eighth of the ten Sikh gurus who lived from 1469 to 1708.
2. In the past, Guru Hari Krishan would give sick people sacred water, believing it would miraculously heal their mind, body, and soul. Today, people still regard the water in the pool of Gurudwara Bangla Sahib as holy water. Sikhs travel from all over the world to this location, where they collect the pond's water, which they also refer to as "Amrit," to carry back to their homes.
3. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib was actually a bungalow that belonged to Raja Jai Singh. He was a ruler in the 17th century. The name of the bungalow was Jaisinghpura Palace.
4. Did you know? Approximately 800-900 persons can fit in the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara's langar hall at one time. There are reportedly between 35 and 75 thousand langar patrons at the Gurudwara every day. Daily hours for the langar start from 5 a.m. to late at night.
5. The Gurudwara, which has been feeding thousands of people for years, has launched a new programme to give the underprivileged access to affordable healthcare. At the Gurudwara, an MRI scan costs Rs. 50 for patients. Recently, the kidney dialysis hospital at the Gurudwara was opened by the diagnostic centre.
