Imagine boarding a train in Patna and reaching Delhi in less than five hours. What sounds like a futuristic dream may soon become a reality as a proposed Patna–Delhi bullet train corridor is being considered as part of India's expanding high-speed rail network.
If approved and developed, this ambitious project could transform travel between Bihar and the National Capital Region (NCR), making journeys significantly faster, more comfortable and efficient for millions of passengers.
The proposed high-speed bullet train aims to drastically reduce the current travel time between Patna and Delhi, which currently ranges from 10 to 15 hours by conventional trains, depending on the service.
With bullet train technology, passengers could complete the journey in less than five hours, making same-day business trips, weekend getaways and emergency travel much more convenient.
According to the proposal, the corridor is expected to pass through several important cities across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi, creating a modern transport network that connects some of North India's busiest regions.
Besides improving long-distance travel, the project is also expected to strengthen regional connectivity and encourage economic development along the route.
