Delhi's Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport has received significant international acclaim after being named the ninth busiest airport globally for 2024 by the Airports Council International (ACI) World. With a steady rise from 17th in 2019 to 13th in 2021, 10th in 2023, and now 9th in 2024, Delhi is the only Indian airport to appear in ACI worldwide top 10.

Transiting passengers are only tallied once, while ACI World's rankings are based on the total number of passengers, including those boarding and disembarking. Delhi airport saw passenger traffic of 77 million in 2024.

“This recognition underscores Delhi airport’s sustained passenger growth, robust infrastructure development, and expanding global connectivity, making it the only Indian airport to feature in the prestigious list,” said a Delhi International Airport Limited Official.

“This recognition by ACI World is a testament to our relentless efforts to enhance the travel experience at Delhi Airport,” said Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO of DIAL.

There are flights from the Delhi airport to 150 airports across the globe. Furthermore, earlier this year, ACI presented the Delhi airport with the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Award for "Best Airport in Asia-Pacific" for the seventh year in a row.
