CM Rekha Gupta officially relaunched the iconic University Special (U-Special) bus service at the Delhi University Sports Complex, marking its return after a gap of over a decade. The ceremony featured the flagging off of 25 brand-new electric buses, symbolizing a student-first, eco-conscious transport initiative.

The revamped service spans 25+ routes, connecting Delhi University’s North and South Campuses, JNU, IIT Delhi, and 67 DU colleges across the city. Routes have been strategically planned and timed to match student class schedules, ensuring seamless commutes.

These EV buses come with updated safety features and passenger conveniences:

- Air conditioning

- CCTV cameras

- Panic buttons

- Live in-bus radio with student engagement via QR codes and WhatsApp

The relaunch of U-Special buses under CM Rekha Gupta beautifully blends nostalgia with modern infrastructure, creating a student-centric, sustainable, and safe commuting option—while forging connections between policy, history, and emotion.
