It's difficult to imagine that there is a residence in the capital with an AQI of only 10–15 when stories of Delhi's infamous Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching dangerous levels are common. The house of Peter Singh and Nino Kaur in Sainik Farms, South Delhi, is indeed a miracle.

Their home is covered with more than 15,000 plants. Forget about your typical cement and paint-filled homes; this one was constructed using stone tiles and lime mortar, which naturally keeps it cool, even during Delhi's notoriously hot summers. Because the plants are natural air cleansers, every breath they take inside their house feels like a lung detox.

The abundance of plants, each of which helps to purify the air, guarantees that the indoor air quality is perfect, with the AQI continuously falling below 15. Beyond clean air, the couple is committed to self-sufficiency. Their house runs completely off the grid thanks to solar electricity, which lessens their dependency on outside power sources.

Another essential component of their self-sufficient way of life is water conservation. While water within the house is carefully recycled for everyday usage, rainwater is collected in a 15,000-liter rainwater harvesting tank and used to irrigate the plants. There's not a drop wasted.
