Plans are in motion to establish a restaurant, three cafes, and an ice cream shop at the Humayun's Tomb museum, adding a variety of culinary pleasures to a visit to the historically significant and iconic museum at the verdant Sunder Nursery.

The Aga Khan Trust for Culture designed and constructed the museum, which is owned by the Archaeological Survey of India. It is the result of 25 years of conservation work at the 300-acre Humayun's Tomb, Sunder Nursery, and Nizamuddin Basti area of Delhi, during which more than 60 monuments have been preserved.

The museum, which opened in August of last year, is situated next to the Sunder Nursery's entrance. Officials claim that the museum is the entryway to Sunder Nursery Park and Humayun's Tomb. The tender document states that the restaurants adjacent to the museum will provide a variety of culinary options that accommodate different dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free, and employ sustainable, organic, and locally produced foods.

“Seasonal menus that reflect local, fresh produce and the natural surroundings are highly encouraged, contributing to a connection between the dining experience and the environment. The menu should also offer a variety of beverages, and regional Indian beverages, ensuring they align with the health-conscious and sustainable values of the park,” the document states.

According to Ratish Nanda, CEO of the Aga Khan Trust for Culture, which planned and constructed the museum, the new dining options will improve the experience of the guests even more.
