In anticipation of the Maha Kumbh Mela, which is expected to attract pilgrims from all over the nation, the Ministry of Railways has published a comprehensive plan that calls for the operation of 992 special trains from January 12 to February 28, 2025. The main objective is to manage the massive number of pilgrims who will be taking the train there.
Millions of people are expected to attend the event, and these customised trains are there to serve them. In addition, the Prayagraj region is traversed by 6,580 regular services and 140 trains. During the Kumbh Mela, the railways have permitted 140 passing-through trains to stop daily so that passengers from Prayagraj districts can embark in addition to adding more trains.
And the Ministry of Railways is launching a new circular train line between Prayagraj, Ayodhya, and Varanasi. The purpose of this new route is to facilitate travel between the major cities of pilgrimage. 174 longer rakes will also be deployed by the Ministry to efficiently manage the increased passenger load.
Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu and V Somanna also attended a high-level meeting organised by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to discuss the plans for special trains and assess the Kumbh Mela preparations. Prayagraj is scheduled to host the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 from January 13 to February 26.
