The decision marks a significant step in the company’s global growth strategy and highlights India’s emergence as one of the fastest-growing markets for AI adoption.
After the United States, India is OpenAI's second-largest and fastest-growing market. India now has the largest student population on ChatGPT globally, with over four times as many users as the previous year.
To further these goals, OpenAI is organizing an Education Summit this month and a Developer Day later this year, aimed at building stronger ties with India’s educational institutions, startups, and tech ecosystem.
India is becoming a leader in digital innovation and AI adoption, which is reflected in OpenAI's decision to open a presence there.
