The gates of Rashtrapati Bhavan will open on February 12 to accommodate a wedding ceremony on the premises, marking a first in history. This comes after President Droupadi Murmu approved the wedding after being "highly impressed" with the person's service and behaviour.
The President reportedly proposed that the marriage ceremony be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan's Mother Teresa Crown Complex after learning about the wedding.
First Person To Get Married In Rashtrapati Bhavan:
The first person to get married in the complex will be Poonam Gupta, a member of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) who is assigned as a PSO at Rashtrapati Bhavan and who led the CRPF's all-female group during the 74th Republic Day parade.
According to sources, she is all set to marry Avneesh Kumar, an assistant commandant currently stationed in Jammu & Kashmir. The wedding, which will have a limited guest list, is currently being planned.
Because of the importance of the location, only close relatives and friends will be invited to the ceremony, which is anticipated to be a private affair. They will all be subject to security screening.
The next ceremony combines personal festivities with national significance, will not only honour the union of two committed officials but also showcase the changing customs of India's highest office.
