Delhi to Introduce Cable Cars for Yamuna River Crossing
Published on

Delhi peeps, you guys heard it right! A cable vehicle will soon be available for crossing the Yamuna. Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Vinai Kumar Saxena has taken a major step by ordering the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to begin surveying the floodplains of the Yamuna in order to erect the ropeway that will allow people to go across the river in cable cars.

This is the first present of the new year for the residents of Delhi. Cable cars will operate according to a set schedule from dawn till evening as soon as this project begins. 50 people will be able to ride in one cable car. DDA will look for a location for this project because it is in charge of Yamuna's floodplain. LG has requested that DDA look for a location close to the metro station situated on the Yamuna River. This will lessen the likelihood of encroachment and remove the requirement for concrete in the Yamuna flood area. Additionally, LG instructed DDA officials to select locations that are easily accessible by foot from the metro station or DTC.

This project's goals are to decrease the number of cars on the road, promote short-distance walking, and encourage people to take public transportation. Additionally, it will give the capital another public transport choice. Also, this non-polluting method of river crossing will be connected to buses and the metro.

Furthermore, it will offer a different path that will bring people closer to their homes and places of employment. People won't have to endure lengthy traffic congestion because of this. This will cut down on pollutants in addition to travel time.
